Currently on the stand is Dan Chappel, the lead FBI informant who rose to become second-in-command of the Wolverine Watchman militia. Dan, also known as "Big Dan," code name: THOR.
Chappel was compensated roughly $60k in cash, electronics, tires, etc. for about 6 months of work. Chappel's main target was Adam Fox who lived in the basement of the "Vac Shack," a vacuum repair shop. Fox was indigent and seemed to be in a very vulnerable place when he was approached by several FBI informants and undercover agents.
Chappel was handled by FBI Special Agent Jayson Chambers, who will not be called to testify. The government will not be calling the 3 lead FBI agents in the case due to misconduct.
We are still unclear about how Dan Chappel came upon the group. The governments claims do not make sense. In texts messages produced via discovery, Dan Chappel says the FBI agent Chambers that he is "building up his resume," we just don't know for what since he allegedly worked for the postal service.
There was no kidnapping plot until the government brought the defendants together with a network of at least 12 FBI informants and 2 undercover agents and tried to hatch a plan that didn't otherwise exist.
